Alternate R Parking Lot
The Alternate R Parking Lot[1] (also known as the Hayfield[1] or Game Day Parking) lies at the corner of Donahue Drive and College Street. Far removed from the campus, the lot is intended for use by students displaced from their original parking zones by football game day.
The Alternate R Parking Lot opens at 12 noon the Thursday before and closes at 12 noon the Sunday after each home football game.[1] Between the hours of 12 noon of the preceding Friday, and 6 pm on game day,[2] a security officer is typically stationed at the lot to check students' parking permits and advise them.
Transportation[edit | edit source]
The Alternate R parking lot is a rather large distance from campus (1.2 miles' walk to Jordan-Hare Stadium)[3]. To ameliorate this, a bus from the Tiger Transit, running on the Longleaf route, will make a stop at the Seed Technology Center immediately to the north of the lot. This stop is only made between the hours of noon to 6:00 PM on Thursday and 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM on Friday, but outside of those time slots, the same Longleaf bus makes another stop a short walk north of the lot along South Donahue.
The Night Security Shuttle also will take students to and from the lot during its operating hours, in fact prioritizing pickups of students at the lot due to a lesser amount of security present.[4]
